How to make chocolate covered Oreos using a mold
You can purchase an Oreo Mold on Amazon. Using melted chocolate, lightly coat the bottom of the mold taping 15-20 times to make the chocolate even.
Let chill for 5 minutes in the fridge, then place your oreo cookie in the mold. Top with chocolate and fully chill.
While you can always dip Oreos in melted chocolate, using a mold gives them a professional look and allows for endless creative possibilities.
Here are the more detailed steps and pictures to make our snowmen.
Oreo Cookie Snowman
Ingredients:
2, 12 oz bags of white candy melts
20 Oreos
2-4 tsp vegetable oil (if needed)
1. Melt The Chocolate:
Begin by placing your candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl.
Use the defrost setting and microwave them for 1 minute.
Take the bowl out and give the chocolate a good stir.
Continue the melting process using the defrost setting, but this time, do it in 30-second intervals, stirring after each round, until the chocolate becomes silky smooth and glossy.
NOTE: add a little vegetable oil if the chcolate is too thick (do not add water)
2. Make The Snowman’s Body
Drop 1 tablespoon of the melted chocolate into each mold, and employ the back of a spoon to evenly coat the sides.
Once you’ve coated all the sides of each mold, lift the mold and gently tap it on a flat surface.
Keep tapping until the chocolate elegantly cascades down the sides, ensuring full coverage at the bottom.
Note: You might need to give it around 15-20 taps to get the perfect snowman shape.
3. Chill
Pop your molds into the refrigerator and let them chill for about 5 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
4. Add Oreos
Remove the molds from the refrigerator and nestle an Oreo cookie into the center of each chocolate cup.
Spoon 1 tablespoon of chocolate over each Oreo, making sure to guide the chocolate over the cookie’s edges.
Now, grab your spoon and gently tap the mold again, coaxing the chocolate to embrace the cookie’s sides. This will create a snug chocolate hug around the Oreo.
5. Add Your Final Layer
Add another tablespoon of chocolate on top of the cookie to create the final layer.
Use your spoon to level it out – if you want a thick cookie add chocolate right to the top of the mold
Don’t forget to tap the mold once more to bid farewell to any pesky air bubbles.
6. Final Chill
Return your snowmen-in-the-making to the refrigerator for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate has solidified completely.
Carefully release your snowmen from their molds
7. Decorating
Use icing to give each snowman a unique personality, and let your creativity run wild.
Allow the icing to dry before indulging in these charming Oreo Cookie Snowmen.
Note: If these are going in baggies as gifts you icing rather than gel to decorate.
Enjoy your sweet winter treat!
