Get Ready to Scream… with Delight: Making Halloween Twinkie Mummies!

I’m thrilled to share a recipe that perfectly captures the essence of Halloween fun: Halloween Twinkie Mummies.

By now you know I love easy when it comes to party treats and most of my favorite desserts are no-bake.  This recipe is no exeception.

Using Twinkies as the base means you don’t need to make any cake.  Which saves lots of time and also keeps them all the same size.

You can make them any color you want and they are easy to put out on a platter or wrap up for a nice party favor.

Twinkie Mummy Ingredients:
10 twinkies
1 bag light cocoa candy melts
1 bag orange candy melts
1 bag bright white candy melts
20 Candy eyeballs
10 paper straws

Prep:  Put wax paper on a cookie sheet

Step 1:  Take the Twinkies out of the package.

Insert 1 paper straw into each twinkie, being careful to not pierce the straw through the end of the twinkie.

Once straw is inserted place on the wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Step 2: Place the twinkies in the freezer for 10 minutes. (this helps to create a more solid twinkie to work with).

Step 3: While the twinkies are in the freezer follow directions written on the candy melts bag.

Step 4: To avoid any mess, set up a wire rack over wax paper to catch any drips.

Take one Twinkie at a time and dip it into the melted chocolate.

Use a spoon to generously cover the Twinkie in chocolate.

Smooth out the chocolate with the back of the spoon, ensuring it’s evenly coated all around.

Step 5: Place onto the wire rack for a minute or two to allow excess to drop off then add more wax paper. Continue with the remaining twinkies.

Step 6: Stick two candy eyes on before chocolate hardens.

Step 7: Add melted white candy melts to a piping bag with a round decorating tip. (or use a plastic baggie and cut a small tip off the end)

Step 8: Drizzle white chocolate in a back and forth motion to create “wraps.”

Step 9:  Let chocolate harden completely. Enjoy!
