There are a million chocolate chip cookie recipes out there, but I wanted to share mine that my mom passed down to me.

I have a feeling its a Phoebe from friends situation where she got it off a bag of chocolate chips, but that is ok because they are really really delicious.

I won’t go on and on and tell personal anecdotes. I’m going to get straight to the recipe.

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

This easy chocolate chip cookie recipe is great on its own or on a dessert board.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • To make the cookie dough, soften the butter in the microwave until almost but not quite melted
  • With a mixing spoon combine the butter, sugar, vanilla and egg in a large bowl
  • In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt
  • Slowly add the dry to wet ingredients and mix for about a minute or until ingredients are fully combined
  • Scoop cookies onto a baking sheet in 1 Tbsp sized balls placed about two inches apart
  • Bake for 9-10 minutes
